The Hypocrisy of Forbes Lecturing Chicago West and not the Patriots!

JUST SAY'n: I hadn't intended to read this article in particular. Just doing some background research on the Chicago West Little League baseball team and their having been stripped of the United States championship title. My thoughts were pretty much along the lines of "Well who did they recruit to play with their team...did they line up Ken Griffey Jr. or some college or high school kids?"

It seems to me that kids have always moved to different regions to play for specific little league teams or have a second residence(live with relatives) to do so....ALL kids, not just Black kids. And if they didn't do it, the adults associated with the leagues gerrymandered the league boundaries to get coveted players as what happened when the area that I lived in was "incorporated" into our hated little league football rivals and an official from that squad approached me as a 13yo and stated "now you get to play for us"...which I didn't and chose not to play my last year of eligibility for that league.

My point in mentioning this is that it's always been this way. And from what I've been able to research, the complaint came from the president of a rival league who, I'm speculating, probably had sour grapes because players from Chicago West were not playing in "his" league.

But what really caught my attention was an article in Forbes magazine, no less, lecturing the kids about needing to learn a lesson about not cheating and making this amazing comment:

"Is the team being stripped of its championship a case of kids paying the price for decisions
mostly made by adults? Yes. Should they have to? Unfortunately, yes. The reason why is that the kids need to learn what happens when you’re part of something that isn’t right.

Kids know that adults screw up. If the adults did not play by the rules, the kids need to know that such behavior has consequences. They also need to know that, despite the shenanigans of some of the pros in baseball, football, and other sports, there is no honor or satisfaction in winning if you won but didn’t play by the rules."

Now, let's just pause and think about this statement.......and consider that the New England Patriots have won two Superbowls in the past 10 seasons where they were caught cheating by the league and still Tom Brady is hailed as arguably the greatest QB in NFL history and their cheating coach, Bill Belichick is highly regarded as a "genius".

Forbes hasn't "lectured" the Patriots about cheating to get to the Superbowl, but rather chose to focus on "overnight ratings"
and how Brady's wife helped them win their 4th title

Now, ultimately, the adults associated with Chicago West have either been suspended or relieved of their positions and the kids will not regain their championship designation. Kids are resilient, they'll get over it, but just don't get on a high horse and lecture them about how it doesn't pay to bend the rules and there is no joy in cheating to win after having shrilled with glee when a cash cow professional football team cheated in route to winning two Superbowls...JUST SAY'n!
